About Church of the Cross | Ancient Faith for Today

Church of the Cross | Anglican Church in Joplin, Missouri

Church of the Cross is a new Anglican church in Joplin, Missouri, serving Joplin and the surrounding Four States area. We are a Christian church rooted in historic faith, centered on Jesus Christ, and committed to forming disciples for everyday life.

Although our congregation is new to Joplin, the faith we practice is ancient.

Each Sunday, our worship follows Scripture-centered, liturgical patterns shaped by the historic Christian Church. We read the Bible, pray together, preach Christ, and celebrate Holy Communion. These practices have formed Christians for centuries, and they still matter—especially in a distracted and restless world.

We exist because something essential is worth recovering:

  • a Christian faith that is deep, not performative
  • worship that is reverent and meaningful, not manufactured
  • community that is honest, not curated
  • belief that welcomes real questions without abandoning biblical truth

Church of the Cross welcomes people throughout Joplin, Missouri who are seeking more than surface-level spirituality. Some have never attended church. Others come from evangelical Protestant backgrounds. Many are returning after time away. All are welcome.

Our congregation is building something both ancient and new—a church grounded in historic Christianity, alive in the present, and open to anyone seeking a faith that can be lived, not merely discussed.

You do not need a church background.
You do not need to know the right words.
You do not need to pretend.

You are invited to come and see.

What Is an Anglican Church?

Anglican churches hold to historic Christian belief while affirming the authority of Scripture, salvation by grace through faith, and the centrality of Jesus Christ.

Those from evangelical backgrounds often recognize much of what Anglicans believe. What differs is often how that faith is practiced.

Scripture-Focused Worship

Anglican worship includes extensive Bible readings every Sunday. Scripture shapes our prayers, preaching, and understanding of God’s work in the world.

Liturgy That Forms Faith Over Time

Rather than depending on personalities or production, Anglican worship follows a consistent, Scripture-shaped pattern. This rhythm forms Christian faith steadily, week after week.

Sacraments Rooted in the Gospel

Baptism and Communion are gifts Christ gave His Church. Through them, God assures believers of His grace and strengthens faith.

Room for Thoughtful Faith

Anglican Christianity welcomes serious questions while remaining anchored in historic Christian teaching. Faith engages both the heart and the mind.

Anglican worship does not move backward. It draws from the deep roots of Christianity so believers can live faithfully today—right here in Joplin.
