Now I’m Here… How Do I Become a Christian?

At our church plant in the Anglican Church in North America, we believe becoming a Christian is not about joining a club. It is about entering a real relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Bible gives a clear pattern: Repent. Believe. Follow. Be baptized. Join the Church.

1. Repent

To repent means to turn away from sin and turn toward God.

We all sin. We all fall short of God’s standard.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23
“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.” — Acts 3:19

Repentance is not just feeling bad. It is asking God for forgiveness and choosing a new direction.

2. Believe

To believe means to trust in Jesus — not just agree that He existed, but trust Him to save you.

Jesus lived a perfect life, died for our sins, and rose again.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9

Salvation is a gift. You cannot earn it.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8–9

3. Follow

Jesus does not only call us to believe facts about Him. He calls us to follow Him.

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” — Luke 9:23

Following Jesus means learning His teaching, obeying His Word, and trusting Him daily.

4. Be Baptized

Baptism is the outward sign of an inward change. It is how Christians publicly identify with Jesus.

“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” — Acts 2:38

Baptism does not earn salvation. It is the biblical next step after faith.

5. Connect to a Local Church

Christianity is not meant to be lived alone. God places believers into a church family.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together…” — Hebrews 10:24–25

In the church, we:

  • Worship together
  • Learn the Bible
  • Pray
  • Encourage one another
  • Receive the Lord’s Supper

A Simple Summary

To become a Christian:

  1. Turn from your sin.
  2. Trust in Jesus Christ.
  3. Commit to follow Him.
  4. Be baptized.
  5. Join His Church.

If you are ready to take that step, we would love to talk with you, pray with you, and walk with you as you begin your life in Christ.
