I’m New | Visiting an Anglican Church in Joplin, Missouri

Welcome! We’re really glad you’re here.

Church of the Cross is a new Anglican church in Joplin, Missouri, rooted in the historic Christian faith and centered on Jesus Christ. If you’re curious about ancient Christianity, or if liturgical worship feels unfamiliar, you’re in the right place.

Many visitors are new to church—or new to this style of worship. Because of that, you don’t need experience, knowledge, or certainty. Simply come as you are.

What to Expect on Sunday

Our Sunday service follows a thoughtful, prayerful rhythm. First, we read passages from the Bible. Then, we pray together, hear a sermon rooted in Scripture, and celebrate Holy Communion.

At first, some parts may feel unfamiliar—and that’s okay. However, you can participate as much or as little as you’re comfortable. Over time, many find the structure grounding and deeply meaningful.

Do I Need to Know What to Do?

Not at all.

Everything is clearly guided, and no one will single you out. For example, you can simply observe, listen, and take it in at your own pace. If questions arise, we’re happy to answer them.

What Should I Wear?

Come as you are.

Some people dress casually; others dress more formally. Either way, there is no expectation.

Are Kids Welcome?

Absolutely.

Children are not just allowed—they are welcome. Because we believe families belong together, we are glad to have kids in worship, noise and all. Family-friendly options may vary from week to week, but your children belong here.

What About Communion?

Communion is part of our service each week.

Baptized Christians who desire to follow Jesus are welcome to receive. If you’re not ready, you may come forward for a blessing or remain seated. Either choice is completely fine.

Come and See

Above all, there is no pressure to join or commit.

Instead, we hope you’ll find a welcoming community, meaningful worship, and space to explore a faith rooted in the ancient Church and lived out today.

So, if you’re curious, unsure, or simply searching—we would love to have you.

Come and see.
